GC welcomes the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and a Group from the Thailand Energy Academy (TEA Class 14-15)

Dr. Chaya Chandavasu, Senior Vice-President, Sustainability and Corporate Branding, welcomed Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, along with a group from the Thailand Energy Academy (TEA Class 14-15) who joined in planting 700 mangrove trees, releasing 49 sea turtles into the sea, and freeing 1,999 crab breeders into their natural habitat as part of the “Save the Earth, Rehabilitate the Forest, and Save the Ocean” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. Dr. Chaya took the Minister and TEA group on a tour of the GC Circular Living exhibition which promotes a better understanding about plastics in response to “GC Total Solutions for Everyone.” This concept encourages the use of eco-friendly products, and is an effective way for users of plastic products to manage, sort and recycle. It therefore helps in building cooperation, knowledge, and understanding among stakeholders. The “The Wonders of the Mangrove Forest, Tung Prong Thong, and Pak Nak Prasae” event took place on 19 January, 2020 at the Forest Reserve Area Conservation and Rehabilitation Project in Rayong.

The forest reserve was developed into a tourist attraction, recreational area, as well as a nursing home and habitat for marine creatures. However, some parts of the mangrove areas were damaged and bare, resulting in a reduced number of marine species. In response, the mangrove rehabilitation project was implemented to support and increase marine life in the forest reserve area in Rayong province.
