Bangkok, 14 November 2025 – PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC, a global leader in the chemical business and Thailand’s first commercial producer of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), announced its collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) under the “From Kitchen to Creation” initiative. The collaboration aims to expand used cooking oil (UCO) collection points to higher education institutions nationwide, while raising awareness and encouraging young people to take part in driving the transition toward a low-carbon society

This collaboration builds on the success of the pilot project conducted from August to October 2025, in which GC worked with its network of partners, recycling waste management centers, and more than 22 partner organizations in Rayong and nearby provinces. The project successfully collected UCO 7.09 tons, which converted into 1.75 tons of SAF, generated over 215,000 baht in income for local communities, and helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5,654.98 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent

The expansion of this collaboration marks an important step in broadening the network of UCO collection points from the current 56 locations across the country, making them more accessible to young people. This initiative aims to encourage participation in systematic waste management in line with the principles of the Circular Economy, while supporting Thailand’s ambition to become an ASEAN Low-Carbon Aviation Hub

Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, said, “The Ministry has introduced the ‘Green University’ initiative, under which universities nationwide are expected to play an important role in advancing the goal of achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in alignment with government policy. This collaboration with GC aligns with our mission to raise awareness among young people. MHESI will support the expansion of UCO collection points to university networks, with an initial target to pilot the initiative in more than 20 universities nationwide, subject to the readiness of each institution. This marks the creation of a waste management model for higher education institutions that can be further expanded to broader society”

Under this collaboration, GC and MHESI will jointly promote the establishment of UCO collection points at participating universities, along with communications and educational activities to build a proper understanding of how to manage used cooking oil. This marks an important starting point in extending the power of sustainability from the industrial sector to educational institutions, while creating strong momentum for Thailand to advance toward its Net Zero goal and become the ASEAN Low-Carbon Aviation Hub

The “From Kitchen to Creation” initiative is also part of GC’s Biorefinery development, which can produce SAF, bio-chemicals, and bio-polymers. These can be further developed into a wide range of everyday products, reflecting GC’s commitment to driving the Circular Economy and creating a sustainable difference
