GC in Focus
EP.15 GC as a Global Sustainable Leader Standing Out Through INnovation

GC drives its business under a sustainability philosophy that goes beyond vision, policy, or long-term goals. It is a way of thinking embedded in every aspect of the Company’s operations and reflected through consistent, tangible action. GC is committed to achieving balanced growth alongside environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and the well-being of people in line with ESG principles (Environmental, Social and Governance), while integrating Circular Economy concepts and innovation as key strategic drivers to advance the business in a concrete and sustainable way.
Global Recognition
GC’s commitment to sustainable business practices continues to be recognized by leading international assessment organizations. GC was ranked No. 1 in the world in the Chemicals industry by the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for the 7th consecutive year. This achievement makes GC the first company in the industry worldwide to maintain this leadership position for such an extended period.
In addition, GC has been selected as a member of the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for the 13th consecutive year, from among more than 9,200 companies worldwide participating in the assessment.
In water resource management, GC also received an A rating, the highest level for Water Security, from CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) for the 6th consecutive year, among more than 22,000 companies worldwide. This reflects GC’s effective and responsible management of natural resources in line with international standards.
In Thailand, GC has also been awarded the highest “AAA” rating in the SET ESG Ratings for the 3rd consecutive year and has been named to the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s sustainable stock list for the 11th consecutive year. GC has been recognized as one of the listed companies demonstrating comprehensive ESG performance across multiple dimensions, including strategy, risk management, innovation development, stakeholder engagement, and transparency in disclosure.
Although these three institutions apply different assessment criteria, they all clearly reflect one shared strength: GC’s ability to genuinely integrate ESG principles into its business operations. This goes beyond policy-level commitment to consistent action that delivers tangible sustainability outcomes.
Innovation-Driven Organization for Sustainability
GC is distinguished not only by the recognition it has received, but also by its ability to turn ideas into action through innovation as a key driver of sustainability. An example is the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). By leveraging existing expertise and infrastructure, GC has adapted its production process to use Used Cooking Oil (UCO) as a feedstock without the need to build a new facility. This has enabled GC to become the first company in Thailand to produce SAF for the aviation industry, while also expanding into the production of Biochemicals and Bioplastics, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create greater value from resources.
GC has also set a target to achieve Net Zero by 2050 through enhanced production efficiency, efficient energy, and investments in low-carbon technologies. Between 2021 and 2025, GC reduced its cumulative greenhouse gas emissions by more than 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
Responsible Water management is another key priority. GC has therefore developed a water management system across its value chain and implemented Wastewater Reverse Osmosis (WWRO) technology to reuse treated wastewater. This helps reduce freshwater withdrawal from natural sources by up to 1.8 million cubic meters per year, while raising the standard of water management in the industrial sector.
In the social dimension, GC also advances the circular economy through GC YOUเทิร์น, an integrated innovation for post-consumer plastic waste management. The initiative works with more than 140 partners nationwide, ranging from government agencies and private sector organizations to educational institutions and local communities.
Today, the project has established more than 400 plastic collection points across the country and has returned over 122,000 tonnes of plastic to the recycling process. By building a plastic management system from the source, GC YOUเทิร์น is helping turn the circular economy into a reality at the national level.
Beyond Recognition: Confidence and Pride
Awards and recognition from S&P Global, CDP, and SET ESG Ratings is more than a mark of achievement. It reflects the confidence placed in GC’s approach to business.
Above all, it represents a sense of pride in contributing to a better quality of life for people while caring for the planet through innovations that create real impact - helping deliver a better future for all.
