EP.12 GC stands out by creating sustainability throughout the value chain, from upstream to downstream

“We believe that no one can achieve sustainability alone. True sustainability arises from the cooperation of all sectors in the industrial value chain—from manufacturers and partners to consumers working together toward the same goal: a sustainable future for everyone.”

Amid a world facing a severe climate crisis, GC has established sustainability as a core strategy and set a target to achieve Net Zero, or net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, by 2050. We are doing everything possible to avoid adding further burden to the planet. This is not just a declaration—this is real action.

“Our reduction isn’t enough. The whole value chain must join in.”

GC believes that truly effective greenhouse gas reduction must come from collaboration across the entire value chain, where every sector, from upstream to downstream, recognizes its importance and moves in the same direction to create truly sustainable outcomes for our planet.

Therefore, we have expanded our target to include all partners in GC’s value chain, aiming to jointly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2050 — a shared mission that requires progressing together through every step of the production process. This mission reflects GC’s commitment to transforming the entire system, not just changing ourselves.

Today, the world needs more than promises. Consumers expect products that reflect responsibility, transparency, low carbon emissions, and environmental friendliness. Sustainability is no longer just an option — it is the new standard for survival and for growing with pride on the global stage.

Value chain management to promote sustainable shared growth

We have therefore established a comprehensive value chain management strategy, from selecting capable partners aligned with ESG principles (Environmental, Social, and Governance), to encouraging and supporting partners to operate responsibly. This includes adding ESG criteria, particularly greenhouse gas reduction and water management, into supplier contracts, as well as establishing transparent procurement codes of conduct so that every production process of GC reflects concrete sustainability standards.

In addition, GC continues to advance green procurement and sustainable logistics policies, taking environmental considerations beyond standard procurement criteria and considering the entire lifecycle, from raw material sourcing, production, and transportation to waste management, to ensure that every step creates a positive impact for both the business and the planet.

We understand that true sustainability is not measured by 'how much we can achieve,' but by 'how far we can move the entire system forward.'

Sharing knowledge toward our common goals

Sustainable change must come from 'learning together.'

GC believes that knowledge is a key driver of stability across the entire industry. Therefore, we do not stop at taking action, but also 'share what we know' so that everyone in the value chain can grow together.

With hands-on experience in decarbonization (the process of reducing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the impacts of global warming), GC shares in-depth knowledge through the ESG & Decarbon Program for Business Partners. The program is delivered by instructors from GC’s management team and external climate experts, enabling partners to understand and adapt to low-carbon business practices. GC provides close consultation to partners, helping to outline approaches, adjust processes, and enhance capabilities in efficient environmental management, so that every business in the value chain can genuinely reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move toward the Net Zero goal with us.

This program not only builds new knowledge but also serves as a 'platform for collaboration' through which GC communicates sustainability direction, exchanges perspectives, and inspires all partners to recognize the value of driving change together.

GC stands out by creating sustainability across the entire value chain. For us, sustainability is not a competition about who can do better, but about taking action together for a better world for everyone.
