GC_ONE REPORT 2021_ENG

Sustainable Water Management GC’s One Water Strategy comprises three key aspects, namely Governance, Water Stewardship and Resilience. The strategy reinforces on an integrated approach of water management. It also concentrates on optimizing water efficiency in the production process, using renewable water, supporting technological investments, streamlining the production process and exploring alternative water reserves in order to decrease the effects of business operations on water consumption and minimize impact from climate change. Furthermore, GC has built networks with the public, private and industrial sectors, such as Water and Environment Institute for Sustainability (WEIS), Federation of Thai Industries, Water War Room, and Maptaphut Plant Manager Club (PMC), etc., in order to drive and promote policies and approaches on sustainable water management. This also includes water consumption riskmanagement and cooperation between the public and private sectors in integrated water management. GC further supports the water management strategy through our internal projects such as Optimization of Water Efficiency in Production Process, Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) and Wastewater Reverse Osmosis (WWRO). In addition, GC is in the study phase of the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) project which uses advanced technology to reduce waste and improve water efficiency, etc. Waste Management GC’s waste management policy centers on reducing waste at the source and utilizing waste from the production process and other activities. This includes hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal from all company activities, such as expansion of production capacity, annual turnaround act i v i t ies. The Circular Economy principle has been applied to this effort in tandem with the 5Rs principle, consisting of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Renewable and Refuse. In 2021, GC has carried out waste management projects based on eco-friendly waste management processes, such as Gr een Tu r na r ound wh i ch efficiently reduced resource consump t i on and r educe generation of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste from turnaround act i v i t ies. Our continuous endeavours in waste management have contributed to the accomplishment of the Zero Waste to Landfill Goal for the seventh consecutive year. Consequently, we have been invited to participate as a role mo d e l c omp a n y i n t h e “Enhancement of Zero Waste to Landfill Standards for Industrial Enterprises based on Universal Practices” program organized by the Department of Industrial Works. Air Quality Control GC has established an air quality management control plan in line with the standard and make continuous improvements on the air quality control system. We pu t spec i a l emphas i s on reduc ing Vol at i l e Organi c Compounds (VOCs) diffusion and leakage by using the Code of Practice (CoP) in tandem with col laborat ing wi th external stakeholder to reduce as much benzene vapor and 1, 3-Butadiene from industrial plants as possible and lower than stipulated by the law. GC has also developed and improved process efficiency while planning regular audits and turnarounds of machinery and tools. Additional ly, GC intends to eliminate the use of ozone-depleting substances by replacing R-22 with non-CFC refrigerants by 2030. In 2021, GC has expanded the scope of our VOCs management to cover relevant plants under GC Group in order to al l companies understand these principles and able to compile a VOCs Inventory that is consistent throughout the Group. Air quality control through the implementaion of projects and system improvement has led GC to attain our annual goal and has a continuous downward trend in air pollution emissions per ton production. 92 PTT GLOBAL CHEMICAL PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED Form 56-1 One Report 2021
